Valentine's Day

We opted for a family Valentine's dinner, instead of going out. Eliza was so excited and decided she would be in charge of dinner and decorations. She did a fabulous job complete with cut out hearts and rolled napkins with fancy ties. I attached a picture of the list she made...so cute!

Dick Van Dyke

Anna has always admired Dick Van Dyke's work in Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and on her own accord wrote him a letter to tell him so. He was kind enough to send her a signed photo in return. She was quite excited!

Concussion

Last week I had a little scare. I was getting ready to go to bed when my chest got tight and I became really light-headed. I decided to get a drink from the fridge and the next thing I know I am on the ground and my head is throbbing from hitting the floor so hard. Austin managed to get me to bed and I spent the night with an ice-pack on my head. True to my anti-doctor tradition, I've toughed it out, and finally after a week I don't have a headache anymore.

The lesson I've learned is to never clean the kids bedrooms, do four loads of laundry, steam clean all the carpets in the house, grocery shop, and babysit a friends toddler all in one day. This week on my day off I went shopping instead :)

She's a little runaway

Yesterday, Eliza and Anna were having fun playing in the snow after school and would come in and out. I, not paying any attention, went on about my routine of preparing dinner and cleaning chaos. Anna came in and started doing homework. About 10 minutes later Eliza came in through the door with tears in her eyes, proclaiming that she had runaway, but decided she would come back now. Good thing, because I wouldn't have even known. I guess she was a little upset that Anna left her to do homework.

The snow melted today or I would have taken a picture. But, I could see out my bedroom window little footprints leading to two small bushes in the corner of our yard. I guess that's where she would have made her new home. We are glad she came back to us.

Bubble Rappin'

The girls spent over an hour creating a variety of ways to destroy bubble wrap...here is a video of one.

New Year

Well, 'tis a new year, and I've made my resolutions. I'm actually going to keep them this time, too. :) Don't put your resolutions aside this year!! Because the old year is gone, and it's never coming back. So make this year worthwhile!!

It's a new (used) car!!

This Christmas break Austin and I decided to take a look at the fabulous car deals they were offering on TV. We spent an entire day test driving every car out there, but realized a new car was a little out of our price range. We learned what we liked though, and were able to get a used one for $6000 less. We've had a lot of fun driving it. I'm just happy to have one car less than 10 years old again!!
