Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we were able to have some fun -- We all went to the church breakfast at the park and filled up on food, frisbee, face painting, and friendship. Then Austin went off to finish a job while the girls and I hit the movies to see "Night at the Museum II". Pretty good, but predictable if you've seen the first. After that we did some girl shopping for summer shorts and sandals and then headed over to Longwood Gardens to enjoy the fountains. We all got home in time (including Austin) to have a barbeque dinner. Gotta love holidays!!

Anna's Field Trip & Party

Anna and I had a fun time on her field trip to the Brandwine River Museum. They had a perfect day to enjoy the rides and the river.


Later that night, Anna hosted a sleepover party for her 12th birthday. The girls had fun running around outside, acting out broadway songs and watching West Side Story. She really has a fun group of friends from church and school. As a mom, I am really grateful for that!

Anna has been such a joy the last year. She doesn't complain much and is generally very happy and placid. She loves to knit, write, sing and read. I always can find her either typing at the computer or with her nose in a book. She is a tiny thing like her Aunts, but doesn't let anyone knock her down. She knows how to use her quick wit and imagination to its fullest. I'm happy I can be her mom.

Spring Projects

I have finally finished doing my two big outdoor projects. The first was to tear out the front walkway that was full of weeds and debri. I put in a paver border, put impenetrable plastic down for the weeds, and freshened the stones. It looks great and hopefully the weeds will stay away.


My other big project was to transplant and thin out many perennials, plant new ones, and mulch all the beds. It was back breaking, but I'm done. Austin seemed to miss out on all the fun, but he was too busy working his three jobs.

Eliza's book

Eliza's school has all the children write their own stories and illustrate them. I had the priviledge of typing up many of the stories. Some of them were quite hilarious.

Eliza chose to write about our two cats, Ronny and FlapJack. Today, they invited the parents to come in and have the books read to them for the first time. I loved Eliza's illustrations.

Julia's concerts

Julia participated in many things this year, two of them being Band and Choir. We were able to enjoy both of those concerts this week.

In Memory of FlapJack

Sadly, one of our cats died last week. It was heartbreaking news for the girls, and especially his brother who now is an only child. Luckily summer is coming, so he won't be too cold at night. They loved to snuggle together. The girls made a gravestone memorial yesterday where we buried him in the backyard. He will be missed.

State Winner

Anna and I spent the morning up in Allentown PA at a breakfast to honor the winners for the nationally sponsored PTA Reflections Program. Anna won second place in the state of PA for her photo entry "Stone of Fire". Way to go Anna!
